There are moments in a fundraising journey that feel bigger than the numbers. This week was one of them.
Oscar has been out in his local community, pressure washer in hand, putting in genuinely hard work, and the response from the people around him has been wonderful. This week alone he raised £693, bringing his total raised to date to £1,731. That's a third of the way to Kenya, and it didn't come from a raffle or a just giving link shared into the void. It came from showing up, doing the work, and trusting that people would recognise it.
The people who made it happen
Oscar's Journey has always been about more than one person. Behind every mile of progress is a community of people who chose to believe in him, and this week, four of them went above and beyond.
Hillary, Paul, Liv and Rosie, thank you. You didn't just hand over some cash. You took a chance on a young person who is working hard for something meaningful, and you recognised the effort he is putting in. That kind of support means more than you know. It tells Oscar that his community is behind him, that the work is worth doing, and that Kenya is closer every single week.
Where things stand
Oscar has now raised £1,731 towards his £5,190 goal, 33% of the full expedition cost, and well into his second fundraising milestone of £2,076. He has £345 to go before he reaches that second milestone, with a target of 1 July 2026.
The first milestone, £1,038, was reached last October. Since then he has kept going. Fundraising can lose momentum once the initial excitement fades, but Oscar hasn't let that happen. He is finding new ways to raise money, new people to ask, and new reasons to keep pushing. That resilience is exactly the kind of quality that makes someone ready for a Camps International expedition.
What the expedition is for
Every pound raised goes towards Oscar's place on a Camps International Kenya expedition in July 2027. He will spend time in Tsavo National Park working on land-based wildlife and conservation projects, before heading to Diani Beach for marine conservation work and scuba diving. This is not a holiday. It is structured, purposeful, and demanding, and he has earned every bit of it.
Want to support Oscar?
If you would like a driveway, patio, or path pressure washed, or simply want to make a donation, you can do so right here on this site. Every contribution, large or small, moves the needle. And if you know someone who might want to support him, sharing this post is one of the most helpful things you can do.
Thank you, to Hillary, Paul, Liv, Rosie, and everyone who has supported Oscar's Journey so far. You are part of this.
