A spark or curiosity
I fully admit that I hadn't considered life outside of the Isle of Wight, let alone the UK. Growing up on this picturesque island, surrounded by the tranquil waters of the Solent and the beautiful landscapes that characterise the region, my world felt comfortably small and familiar. The thought of venturing beyond the island's shores seemed almost daunting, as if I were stepping into a realm that was vastly different from my own. However, when my school offered me and my classmates the opportunity to be a part of Camps International program, it sparked a flicker of curiosity within me. This program promised not only the chance to explore new cultures but also to engage with students from different backgrounds, each with their own stories and experiences to share. As I began to contemplate this opportunity, I realised how much I had taken for granted the unique charm of the Isle of Wight. The rolling hills, the iconic Needles, and the vibrant local community were all I had ever known. Yet, the prospect of traveling to another country opened my eyes to the endless possibilities that lay beyond my familiar surroundings. I started to imagine what it would be like to navigate bustling city streets, to taste foods I had never encountered, and to immerse myself in a culture that was entirely different from my own. This expadition not only represented a chance for personal growth but also an invitation to broaden my horizons and challenge my preconceived notions about the world. I began to ponder the friendships I could forge, the lessons I could learn, and the experiences that would shape my understanding of global citizenship. The more I thought about it, the more excited I became at the thought of stepping outside my comfort zone, embracing the unknown, and discovering the vibrant tapestry of life that exists beyond the Isle of Wight and the UK.
This is me on my last adventure. My Dad & I completed the 3 peaks in 5 days in 2024, my Mum and younger brother joined us on our last ascent up Ben Nevis.
